About Augustina


Augustina is a first generation Canadian of Ghanaian descent and holds a BA in Human Rights & Equity Studies from York University.  She has a Certificate in Mental Health First Aid as well as ASSIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). Her research interests include mental health, stigma, suicide and African-Canadian mental health. She is presently developing a mental health documentary series and currently works as a Research Ethics Board Coordinator with over 5 years of research ethics experience specializing in Biomedical/Social and Behavioural research.

Public Speaking

Augustina has done a variety of speaking engagements and through her unique storytelling method, she takes participants on a journey through her experience with psychosis by incorporating poetry/spoken word which was formed as part of her healing process.
